About us As a department our purpose is to help the community to prevent, prepare for, respond to and recover from the impact of fire and emergency events. Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) is the primary provider of fire, rescue and emergency management programs and services throughout Queensland. The department encompasses the Fire and Rescue Service, disaster management services, the Rural Fire Service and the State Emergency Service, and also supports other volunteer groups providing emergency response to Queenslanders. QFES is one department with many services, many capabilities and many partners. Purpose of the role Technical Rescue is responsible for the development, implementation, planning and management of technical rescue within QFES and provides response, advice and support to regions, including managing the preparedness and response of the Disaster Assistance Response Team Queensland Australia (AUS-1). Reporting to the Manager, you will be a key member of the team responsible for working closely with business unit managers, key stakeholders and regional operational staff to provide coordinated travel, administrative and logistics support for technical rescue training courses and initiatives. You will also provide a range of support functions for operational deployments, and/or interdepartmental engagements to ensure effective delivery of service and operational readiness is achieved. Key requirements Highly desirable requirements Special requirements - It is expected that the incumbent may participate in an out-of-hours on-call roster during emergency operations. This may require work outside of normal hours (e.g. night shift), including weekends, working extended hours and may include deployment to other parts of the state. Your key accountabilities Your part in the ongoing success of our department, in supporting key frontline services will see you responsible for a variety of work, including, but not limited to: - Provide high level administrative and program support, including maintaining document management systems, filing and tracking of training and travel records through SharePoint web management or other storage systems. - Contribute to the planning and coordination of technical rescue courses and workshops, including finance procurement and logistics management, ensuring compliance to assist in the end-to-end process for program deliverables. - Coordinate and manage travel and accommodation, including preparing itineraries for participants enrolled in training programs and/or response team deployments, and ensure adherence to travel policy and departmental requirements is achieved. - Provide advice and information to staff and volunteers relating to training programs and requirements to ensure the effective management of training resources, records and objectives are met. - Assist in the review and evaluation of administrative and reporting systems and provide recommendations in relation to improvements which increase efficiency and effectiveness. - Liaise and maintain productive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders in relation to various program initiatives to ensure consideration of issues and delivery of positive outcomes. - Assist in the preparation of correspondence, briefings and reports on matters relevant to training and travel activities, in accordance with departmental requirements and governance. - Work under limited supervision using a high level of initiative to resolve issues, deliver practical solutions and disseminate information which supports business outcomes.
