**The Organisation**:
ProCare Australia is currently seeking a Principal Clinician (Manager - Clinical Practice) to deliver lifestyle and skills support for clients of the Forensic Disability Service and support clinical intervention / treatment programs.

The Forensic Disability Service (FDS) is a medium secure facility which is designed for up to 10 adults with an intellectual disability who are detained on a forensic order under the provisions of the Mental Health Act 2016 and require secure care under the Forensic Disability Act 2011.

The service is designed to provide a safe environment and developmental services to meet the specific needs of the clients. FDS provides evidence-based treatment, habilitation programs and person centred support to enable clients to:

- maximise their quality of life
- reduce their risk of re-engaging in offending behaviour and
- increase their opportunities for community reintegration and transition.

**The Role**:
The Principal Clinician (Manager - Clinical Practice) oversees leadership and management of Clinical Service delivered within FDS in addition to performing the legislative role of Senior Practitioner.

In their leadership role the Principal Clinician (Manager - Clinical Practice) works in collaboration with the Senior Leadership Team to ensure effective operations, support and care of clients residing at the FDS. In addition they provide timely and effective strategic advice on clinical issues to the Administrator ensuring the service achieves desired outcomes in the provision of its service including compliance with the _Forensic Disability Act_ 2011 and _Human Rights Act 2019._

In performing the legislative role of Senior Practitioner the Principal Clinician (Manager - Clinician Practice ) works closely with the Director of Forensic Disability regarding the admission and transfer of clients to the FDS. The Principal Clinician also completes all Mental Health Review Tribunal (MHRT) clinical reports for clients.

**This role is based in Wacol.**

**This role is a 6-month full time fixed term contract position, with real potential for contract extension/s.**

**Key Responsibilities**:

- In line with the _Forensic Disability Act 2011, _lead the development of evidence based, multidisciplinary clinical practice within the FDS including clinical risk assessments.
- Lead, develop and co-ordinate the provision of offender-related treatment programs including anger management, sexual offender and other treatments.
- Provide expert advice and provide clinical and therapeutic services to FDS clients designed to reducing offending behaviour.
- Provide expert practice and policy advice on approaches to clinical practices within medium secure settings designed for people on forensic orders with intellectual disabilities and/or cognitive disability.
- Lead and oversee the implementation of interventions and programs in order to provide evidence-based, person-centred treatment, habitation and rehabilitation services to clients
- Contribute to the development of practices related to the support, care and treatment of clients.
- In collaboration with the Senior Management Team appraise the development and professional supervision needs of staff and develop, coordinate, implement and evaluate appropriate professional development initiatives for staff utilizing a positive performance management approach.
- Effectively manage human, financial and physical resources.
- Prepare and deliver on reports and research as directed by the Administrator.

- **Registration or eligibility for registration with the relevant authorising body for your profession**:

- It is a condition of employment for this role for the employee to be, and remain, vaccinated against COVID-19. (Workers in a Health Care Setting (COVID-19 Vaccination Requirements) Direction (No.2)).
- This position will be required to provide an after-hours on-call service (on an as needed basis) to staff and clients as part of a rostered on-call arrangement.
- Ability to problem solve and manage challenging uncertain and difficult circumstances in a professional and positive manner

**Additional Requirements**:

- Current QLD Drivers License
- Current Yellow Card or willing to obtain
- Fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
