**About the Organisation**
Our client is a peak body and membership organisation within the disability sector. With a particular focus on employment, the organisation exists to represent the interests of disability service providers at a national level, through the delivery of services designed to support its members to achieve best practice employment services.
As a Not-for-Profit organisation committed to influencing government policy relevant to disability employment, it exists to tackle issues impacting the viability of the industry, removing barriers to workforce participation, and promoting innovative ways to assist people with disability into real jobs.
**About the role**
Our client is seeking to appoint an experienced senior leader who understands, or who is quickly able to appreciate, the philosophical values of disability employment.
Tasked with driving strategic objectives, commercial outcomes, and the day-to-day operations of the organisation, the CEO will have oversight of all financial matters and will implement its vision and strategic plan, whilst diversifying, shaping and guiding the organisation into a successful and sustainable future.
On a daily basis the CEO will engage with its members, government and other stakeholders, and acting as a conduit between groups, will write submissions advising on the implications of new proposals or notions that affect disability employment across Australia.
Considerable travel (at least monthly) across states will be required to visit members, as well as regular trips to Canberra and attendance at overseas conferences. The base location can be flexible however logístically Canberra, Melbourne, Sydney or Brisbane would work well.
The salary offered is commensurate with experience and includes tax saving salary sacrificing options and a significant travel allowance.
**Selection criteria**
- An understanding of the challenges faced by people with a disability and the moral and ethical values of disability employment providers
- An understanding of policy in the disability environment
- Previous experience at executive or GM level
- Established links or previous experience working with senior government officials and ministers, in relation to employment
- Ability to develop effective partnerships and influence change with a range of stakeholders, such as government departments, industry partners and community groups
- Strong analytical skills, commercial acumen and financial management in alignment with budgets and strategic plans
- Innovative or creative thinking around business diversification, income generation and sponsorship
- Ability to speak publicly and act as a spokesperson for the media and at industry conferences
- Willingness to be operational when required yet able to oversee and implement the overall strategy and work proactively with a Board
- Possess a track record of successful leadership of geographically dispersed teams and stakeholders
- The ability to lead by example and inspire, encourage and motivate others
- A current Drivers Licence and a willingness to travel frequently
- Ability to pass a Federal Police Check
- Vaccinated against the spread of Covid-19 (as related to disability)
