**Blockchain Australia** is the association that leads the discussion about blockchain technologies in Australia and represents a large business and ‘business professionals’ base.
Our discussions and collaborative approach to regulatory issues aim to encourage the responsible adoption of blockchain technology by industry and governments across Australia,
**to drive efficiencies** across all sectors of the economy.
**digitally underrepresented people in Australia** so that they can benefit from the new digital technologies such as blockchain.
Blockchain Australia is moving
**quickly into high-level discussions** with the likes of the Reserve Bank and Treasury to name a few. Discussions in this arena require a detailed and strong knowledge of the financial regulatory framework that will be highly regarded by applicants.
Blockchain Australia is fully funded by its membership base and is a not-for-profit organisation. The role offers flexible work conditions and will partner with a skilled team of creators and organisers working from home-based offices to deliver the Association’s objectives.
**Preference will be given to applicants in Melbourne or Sydney.**
The new CEO will continue policy and advocacy conversations thru already established government and industry relationships while nurturing the Association's membership base. The incoming CEO will also become the custodian of a
**growing ‘Blockchain Week’**, the flagship event for blockchain discussions and education within Australia.
**PRIORITIES**
- **Policy Consultation & Engagement**: Experience in drafting and delivering policy submissions from an industry perspective through close engagement with the ecosystem, members, and regulators. The weight of policy coming our way is significant. Treasury has advised on ongoing policy consultations over the next 18 months. The ATO is conducting a review of the Tax Treatment of Digital Assets which will be completed over the next 6 months. APRA released its policy and supervision priorities in February and plans to conduct consultations on requirements for the financial treatment of crypto-assets next year.
- **Blockchain Week**: The incoming CEO will have the responsibility to deliver on a growing Blockchain Week, which is the flagship and national event for Blockchain Australia and brings all sectors together for education, learning, and collaborative discussions whilst working with outside organisations to source sponsorship, space or resources for the event. The week of events and discussions requires a high level of planning and requires the CEO to work with existing members and sponsors to run a national event across several cities
- **Relationships**: Selection should prioritise established business relationships in the Blockchain and Digital Assets space whilst also building relationships with other sectors that could benefit from the efficiencies that blockchain technology has over existing options. The success of this organisation over the past two years has been built on continued conversations with key stakeholders with the primary intention of building relationships.
- **Experience**: The incoming CEO must have the ability to zoom out, think on their feet, adapt to industry change, and deliver quickly. What has worked for us is an agile and just-in-time approach. We are in an industry that is evolving rapidly with threats and opportunities daily. The nimble approach whereby we can respond quickly and effectively to adapt, and deliver is critical to the success of our organisation. It is this approach that has ensured the timely delivery of Blockchain Week, The Blockies, and other events in a sea of postponed events and the unknown.
- **Engagement**: The incoming CEO will deliver valued services to members by:
- Developing and maintaining effective membership networks and effective membership relationships through regular communication, engagement, and support.
- Coordinating a variety of Events and Webinars including Blockchain Week, the Blockies, industry roundtables, and educational opportunities.
- Providing a strong voice for the industry in promoting member interests in policy formation
- Developing and maintaining a strong presence within the local and international blockchain and digital asset industry
- Skills required to be successful in this role, include:_
- You have worked as a collaborator in the Blockchain, Cryptocurrency, or Emerging Tech industry or in an Association.
- You will have a record of success with building a membership, customer base, and/or community.
- You will have built ties to the Government (State and Federal) and have effective stakeholder management skills.
- You will have a presence as an emerging industry figure or spokesperson and understand the intricacies of running a membership organisation.
- You will be an influencer and have ideally been associated with education programs and events.
