**About the Role**
The Technical Coordinator plays a pivotal role in supporting the teaching of Music, Drama, Media Art, Visual Art, and Design education within the Faculty of Education. Responsible for the oversight and maintenance of specialised facilities, equipment, and resources, the role ensures an optimal environment for both academic staff and students to engage in practical and creative learning. Working closely with educators, the Technical Coordinator provides expert guidance on the use of technical equipment, supervises studio operations, and contributes to the preparation and delivery of practical classes. Additionally, the role encompasses essential responsibilities in occupational health and safety, risk management, and resource coordination, ensuring compliance with university policies and the seamless operation of studioFive and other teaching spaces. With a combination of technical expertise, organisational acumen, and proactive problem-solving, the Technical Coordinator has a direct and meaningful impact on the quality of education and artistic practice within the faculty.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing and maintaining specialised teaching spaces, ensuring their organisation, tidiness, and readiness for a diverse range of teaching, research, and creative activities.
- Preparing and overseeing the use of equipment, instruments, and materials for Music, Drama, Media Art, Visual Art, and Design education, including setting up for practical classes, coordinating resource allocation, and arranging maintenance, repairs, and stock replenishment.
- Providing technical support and guidance, assisting academic staff and students in the safe and effective use of specialised equipment, supervising the movement of instruments and props, supporting class presentations, exhibitions, and performances, and contributing to blended synchronous learning activities.
- Ensuring compliance with health and safety standards, developing and reviewing risk assessments, upholding safe working practices, and assisting with technical requirements for events, guest lectures, and external facility users.

Above all, you bring enthusiasm, initiative, and a genuine passion for the creative and performing arts in education.
You will also have:
- A tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline, such as Art or Art Education, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
- Proficiency in both Mac and PC operating systems, along with experience using digital technologies, specialist software, and online platforms relevant to Art education.
- A strong understanding of ethical and safe working practices within Art education studios and performance spaces, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
