**The Role**
Headquarters Combat Support Group (Safety) has an exciting opportunity for one APS5 Work, Health & Safety Officers to join their dynamic team. In your role, you will provide support to senior management on WHS practices as required by the Work Health and Safety (WHS) Act. As part of a specialised team at the Headquarters level, responsible for maintaining and promoting a Safety Management System that addresses current and emerging safety related issues across Combat Support Group.

Combat Support Group is responsible for approximately 5000 personnel covering a diverse range of trade groups dispersed throughout fourteen establishments across Australia. As part of the broader Air Force safety team you will have the opportunity to, under limited direction, perform complex work health and safety activities and influence WHS performance and culture within an integrated Australian Military/Australian Public Service workforce. You will undertake extensive interaction with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders including, Foreign/Australian/State safety agencies, Defence Flying Safety Bureau, Air Force Safety and Fuel Services Branch, Air Force COMCARE Liaison Officer, and importantly Combat Support Group Unit personnel. Travel to these establishments may be required.

**About our Team**
The APS safety team operate within the HQCSG framework in support of the Executive and operational Units on WHS strategic and tactical matters.

The team is made up of experienced WHS professionals who bring a wealth of skills and experience to the business. Being operationally focused, agile, and innovative in approach, makes them successful and effective in providing services and developing products for the Air Force.

The WHS team feel well supported by the Executive Leadership to create an enduring safety culture and effect genuine change.

As a valued and supported team member you will uphold and model the values of the Air Force.

Ideally you will have demonstrated technical competency and operational WHS experience in high risk industries in a tactical role and be able to think strategically in planning and delivery.

Demonstrated ability to build credibility, trust and influence that is demonstrated through being valued as the ‘Go to’ for WHS expertise.

Whilst excellent verbal and written communication is are a key attribute of the role, effective and sensitive communication is equally so.

Agility and responsiveness whilst prioritising multiple competing priorities in a complex environment are imperative in meeting the business unit needs.
