**The Role**
Defence Science & Technology Group (DSTG) is seeking a Facility Security Manager to manage and oversee the security of operations within the facility, including security compliance, security audits, reporting and users’ security education across multiple Research and Development (R&D) programs.
Critical duties include:
- Manage security operations of the facility and related quality management to assure compliance with Defence Security Policy, and applicable Australian and United States Department of Defence security standards.
- Liaise with Australian Government Security Vetting Agency for management of staff security clearances.
- Manage facility maintenance by service providers through coordination of routine & emergent works, and provide trades personnel with access & escorting.
- Assist with planning & implementing minor & major refurbishments projects.
- Manage workloads, prioritise tasks, and meeting deadlines to ensure timely completion of triage-related activities.

We operate in a classified environment and provide security, workplace health and safety, and infrastructure support for DSTG’s research facilities. This enables the Research & Development (R&D) projects conducted by DSTG scientists to develop technology for advanced Defence capabilities.
We also advise and support the R&D projects provided by industry, academia and other external research organisations for the program. Our team grips up the various projects, to concentrate on the overall program to operationalise R&D and realise impact for Defence capability.
- A self-starter and have the ability to work under limited guidance either autonomously or as part of a team.
- Strong written and oral communication skills and, the ability to produce high quality reports, correspondence and guidance to internal and external stakeholders.
You will be able to address complicated challenges, identify solutions, and communicate proposed solutions to stakeholders and arrive at agreed outcomes. You will be able to maintain a focus on the security of facility operations, whilst appreciating the strategic picture for DSTG and Defence.
