**The Role**
Under broad direction from the Group Leader, the Team Leader will contribute specialist expertise and inspire a team of scientists and technicians to achieve outcomes for Defence. Your team will deliver scientific outcomes regarding the characterisation of chemicals scheduled under the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC), their precursors or by-products and other highly toxic chemicals of security concern. As Team Lead, you will possess strong leadership qualities, renowned expertise and a deep understanding of the approaches and technologies applicable to the analysis of these highly toxic chemicals to support verification and attribution investigations for cases of their alleged or suspected use. As part of the leadership team, you will contribute to strategy development, resource allocation and build collaboration networks. A key focus will be leading the team to develop skills and work programs that deliver and contribute to the Science and Technology Strategy for Defence 2020-30.

- Maintain and build skills within a team for the analysis of chemicals of security concern to support verification and attribution investigations while maintaining underpinning research and development programs to enhance the capability to address future needs;
- Sustain a team culture that promotes science excellence and cohesion, encourages continual learning and allows all team members to make an effective contribution toward high impact results;
- Develop and sustain strong relationships and collaborations both internal to DSTG and through engagement with academia, industry and international government agency partners.
- Contribute to all infrastructure and WHS requirements that maintain the capability under a NATA quality system and in accordance with the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC).
