**Who is the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator?**
The National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) commenced operations in 2013 as a national entity responsible for
regulating all vehicles in Australia over 4.5 tonnes gross vehicle mass. With our head office located in Brisbane, the NHVR
minimises the compliance burden on the heavy vehicle transport industry, reduces duplication and inconsistencies across
state and territory borders, and ultimately for the heavy vehicle business with government in Australia.

regulatory services and administration to the Australian heavy vehicle road transport sector, reducing regulatory burden
whilst enabling greater safety and productivity.
Position Description | Environment Business Partner - Workplace
**Primary Objective**
Assist the Manager, Workplace Health and Safety to develop, implement, and monitor the continuous improvement of
workplace health and safety management systems and practices at the NHVR.
**Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities**
- Provide advice and recommendations on workplace environmental matters.
- Assist the Manager, WHS to develop, implement and promote environmental policies, systems and
improvement initiatives across the NHVR.
- Facilitate the continuous improvement of the NHVR’s WHS management system through the enhancement of
environment.
- Demonstrate leadership and contribute to the development of a positive workplace culture through the NHVR.
- Work with employees and managers to increase organisational capability in environmental management.
- Work with employees, business units and managers to identify hazards and risks in their workplaces.
- Conduct and/or guide risk assessments and the development and maintenance of appropriate risk registers for
business units.
- Undertake research and consultation in order to develop fit for purpose risk treatment strategies and controls.
- Plan and coordinate environmental assurance activities including audits and investigations, schedules and
programs, across NHVR business units and operations.
- Assist in the development and delivery of communication and education to employees and business units.
- Develop high level documentation including reports, briefing notes, policies and work procedures.
- Engage proactively with stakeholders across the NHVR to understand and address strategic and operational
environmental challenges.
- Adhere to all NHVR policies and procedures to ensure compliance with NHVR internal processes.
- Comply with WH&S policies and procedures and contribute and promote a safe and healthy work environment.
**Skills and Capabilities**
- High level understanding of WHS and Environment management systems and risk management principles in a
literature/ practices.
- High level analytical and conceptual skills including problem solving with extensive experience and skills in
identifying risk and the development of strategies etc. to mitigate risks.
- Sound understanding of Work Health and Safety and Environment legislation, regulations and codes of practice
- Demonstrated ability to effectively plan, lead and/or manage projects and initiatives effectively in a dynamic,
complex environment with competing priorities.
- Demonstrated high level of interpersonal, negotiation and communication skills, written and oral, including
demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a range of internal and extern
