We are hiring a permanent position within the higher education sector working in their student administration division.

Your new role
The National Lead Policy & Appeals reports to the Director Student Administration and provides leadership and oversight over student appeals and academic policy matters. With the University committed to providing transparent, equitable, and consistent mechanisms for students to appeal an academic decision, the role’s focus is to ensure that both appeals and academic policies and procedures are managed and updated in a timely manner.
- A key function of this position is to drive student centric service standards as well as being responsive to internal stakeholder needs, to enhance the student experience, operational efficiency and contribute to strengthening the reputation of the University.
- In a coordinated national approach this role supports two campuses situated in WA and NSW.
- Ensure that relevant Academic and related Student Administration Policies and Procedures are updated.
- Ensure that student appeals are managed efficiently, adhering to policy and procedures.
- Collaborate and support the governance area of the university by contributing to adherence to the University’s academic regulatory framework and compliance.
- Contribute to internal committees linked to academic governance including policy, compliance and risk themes.
- Coordinate and oversee complaints sent to Student Administration and contribute to timely responses.

What you'll need to succeed
- Relevant postgraduate qualification and/or relevant experience
- Experience in governance roles ideally in complaints handling or appeals and/or policy
- Legal background an advantage
- Experience in working in drafting and maintaining policies within a governance framework.
- Experience of working within a regulatory framework including the ability to operationalise knowledge across the university effectively.
- Capacity to work collaboratively and across organisations boundaries and build effective relationships both internally and externally.
- Experience and understanding of a university environment an advantage but not essential.

What you'll get in return

This is a permanent contract that offers a Salary between $112 - $123k + 13,5% Super.
