We are seeking a dynamic and highly skilled **Vendor Engagement Specialist** to join our team and drive value from data and technology vendor partnerships. In this critical role, you will manage vendor relationships, ensure compliance with contracts, and contribute to the overall success of the Data and Technology division. The National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) commenced operations in 2013 as the national entity responsible for regulating all heavy vehicles with a gross vehicle mass over 4.5 tonnes. The position will be based in Newstead. NHVR employs more than 900 people across the ACT, New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Tasmania and Victoria.

**Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities**:

- Provide expert knowledge on vendor contract details to support the Data and Technology division.
- Conduct demand analysis to understand current and future needs for data and technology services, offering advice on contract management solutions.
- Manage milestones, successes, and achievements in line with contract performance criteria.
- Foster strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, vendors, and partners.
- Perform regular vendor audits to ensure compliance with contract delivery and service level agreements (SLAs).
- Develop and manage a vendor scorecard to assess vendor risk and performance.
- Accurately maintain vendor details and contract information using existing tools.
- Align the vendor strategy with the emerging technology roadmap.
- Ensure that vendor contracts remain current and are updated in collaboration with the procurement team.

**Skills and Capabilities**:

- Proven experience in vendor engagement, including reviewing contracts and managing service level agreements (SLAs).
- Ability to negotiate and influence vendors and suppliers to achieve business outcomes and cost savings.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with vendors, internal teams, and stakeholders.
- A collaborative team player, able to provide high-quality advice and project support.

**Qualifications and Experience**:

- Minimum of 2-5 years’ experience in ICT procurement, vendor management, or contract management roles.
- Experience in a data and technology environment.
- Familiarity with the heavy vehicle industry and regulatory compliance is advantageous.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and influencing skills, with the ability to navigate alternative solutions and approaches.
- A flexible, detail-oriented individual with the initiative to get the job done.
