Security Specialist

About the Role:
A Queensland Government agency is seeking a Security Specialist to work with its red teaming program. You will plan and execute high-impact exercises across digital, physical, and human vectors, uncover vulnerabilities, and deliver actionable intelligence to strengthen the agency's cyber security posture. This role includes managing third-party suppliers, providing concise reporting to executives, and driving continuous improvement across all security operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead red team operations, ensuring exercises meet scope, methodology, and reporting standards.
- Identify critical weaknesses and translate technical findings into clear, actionable insights for executive and board-level decision-making.
- Develop lessons learned, process improvements, and program artifacts to elevate security capabilities.
- Forge strong, professional relationships with internal teams, agencies, and vendors to achieve program objectives.
- Manage vendor contracts to ensure outcomes are delivered efficiently and effectively.
- Apply rigorous program and project management practices, including risk, quality, and resource management.
What We're Looking For:
- Demonstrated expertise in planning and executing red team engagements and proactive assurance projects.
- Strong communicator with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
- Strategic thinker with proven planning, stakeholder, and vendor management skills.
- Experience in complex environments; Queensland Government experience is advantageous.
- Relevant certifications such as OSCP, CRTP, GPEN, or CREST highly regarded.
- Eligibility for NV1 National Security Clearance.
