**About the position**
Located in the centre of Newcastle’s CBD, **NEX **- Newcastle Exhibition and Convention Centre stands proudly on the corner of King and Union street. As we head into another busy conference and event season, Wests Group are currently on the hunt for an experienced Event Manager to take charge and lead our many events from beginning to end. Events will include Gala Dinners, School Formals, Concerts, conferences, and exhibitions and many more
The Event Manager will be responsible for executing an operational event from beginning to end while ensuring that all logistics requirements are carried out according to the event plans. This Manager will manage the event plans and works closely with other departments to ensure that all operational requirements of the events are fulfilled. This role will report directly to the Group Food and Beverage Manager of Wests Group.
**Key responsibilities include**:

- Manage, train, and oversee staffing on events
- Ensure venue standards are maintained
- Oversee FOH Food and Beverage operations
- Collaborate with event organisers to manage event delivery
- Maintain staffing levels, Rostering and leave approvals
- Complete profit and loss statements pertaining to events
- Reporting and budgeting; wage %, stock take & purchasing
- Program building management services and POS
- Oversee venue setups, client bump in/out & cleaning
- Maintain WH&S requires for the venue
- Ensure you are activity managing RSA and compliance issue with the event area
- Ensure events follow Security, Workplace Safety and Health regulations.
- Manage crowd control and evacuation plans with stakeholders and security agencies.
- Manage execution of event logistics plans to support events
- Manage security threats during events.

Certifications required: RSA.
**About you**
The successful Event Manager will be a detail orientated and resourceful individual. You will possess excellent problem-solving skills and be able to react quickly to changes in the event plan & BEO’s.
Due to the nature of this exciting hands on role, this successful applicant will be available to work a flexible workweek, including weekends, evenings, and public holidays
Ideally, you will have gained prior Conference and Events experience within a busy restaurant or function environment. If you hold a degree or certificate in Event Management, this would be highly advantageous.
You will have exceptional customer service skills, a positive and enthusiastic attitude, and the ability to retain your high standards in a busy position.
