**What **you’ll** do**:

- Effectively having your hands on the controls of some of the largest dams in NSW
- Assessing daily and seasonal water demands to determine dam releases and weir operations, monitor water usage, schedule customer water orders, monitor stream flow and storage levels
- Identifying and implementing opportunities for improved operational performance and devising short
- and medium-term system configuration plans
- Delivering assigned projects including water portfolio responsibilities
- Operating or directing the operation of water infrastructure in line with operating protocols to ensure the efficient delivery of water to customers and the environment, including during droughts.
- Operating or directing the operation of water infrastructure during significant inflows (e.g. floods, water quality events) to minimise risks to assets and the downstream environment.

**What we are looking for**:

- Proven experience in working within a team environment to achieve corporate and business unit objectives and improve operational performance.
- Experience in establishing and maintaining relationships with stakeholders, customers and regulators.
- Applicants must demonstrate the ability and willingness to develop sound knowledge of NSW Water Management legislation, regulations and policies
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline (e.g. civil or environmental engineering, hydrology, environmental science), or equivalent operational experience
- NSW Driver's License

**Highly Regarded Skills**:

- Knowledge and understanding of water usage practices and water resource management
- Knowledge of lake water quality (limnology) and/or river hydrology
- Demonstrated ability to implement practical strategies and tools in a water management context, including for incident management
