At the heart of the New South Wales (NSW) planning system, the Planning Group takes centre stage. Driven by the NSW Government's unwavering commitment to tackle the critical housing issue, we provide essential support and strategic guidance. The Planning Land Use Strategy, Housing and Infrastructure (PLUSHI) team are the driving force behind the Department's strategic planning, policy, rezoning, and infrastructure projects, all aimed at making New South Wales a better place to live.

The role

We are looking for a high performer to join the Landuse Forecasting / Urban Analytics teams, within the Planning Evidence Centre. The teams have a focus on housing forecasting and residential auditing work, providing the Department and other government agencies with up-to-date evidence to support their day to day strategic and statutory planning work.

Our Planning Analysts conduct data analysis and produce reports to support and inform the development of Housing and Population Insights programs, initiatives, projects and policy, and contributes to the preparation of advice for the Secretary, Minister and the public. The role actively contributes to a high-performance team environment, provides excellent customer service and enables continual service improvement practices.

About You

You will actively contribute to best practice research projects / papers, analytical methodologies, systems and technologies, by collecting and analysing data from various sources to inform the preparation of briefings, submissions, policy papers, spatial maps and both regular and ad-hoc reports, apply critical thinking and analysis to data, to demonstrate findings of data beyond simple presenting of numbers and communicate key findings of analysis, either verbally or with concise and accurate written reports and spatial maps

You will bring expertise in application of relevant approaches and techniques for research, data analysis, forecasting and statistics, and in use of statistical packages with a degree qualification or higher qualification in one or more of the following areas: planning, statistics, economics, data science, valuing, demography, social science, property development or other relevant discipline or equivalent relevant experience with a specialisation in one of these areas (essential).
