Location - Parramatta (Hybrid available)

Employment type - Temporary 6 months with potential to extend

Clerk Grade 7/8. Salary $106,025 - $117,363 pa plus employer contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading

**What you’ll do**

In the role of Media Officer you will be responsible for managing media inquiries and media issues, preparing media responses, media releases and working on media announcements.

You will be part of the Media, Social Media and Design team in the Department of Communities and Justice’s Communications Branch.

You will work on both reactive and proactive media in collaboration with other teams across DCJ’s Communications Branch..

You will provide support to Ministerial Offices and senior executives in implementing media strategies and managing issues, while consulting with DCJ staff on media matters. You will build and maintain positive relationships with media organisations and journalists to ensure effective issue management and representation of DCJ.

**What we’re looking for**
- Proven experience in media relations/communications and or journalism
- Strong written and verbal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong understanding of the media landscape and news cycle.
- Sound experience in providing high volume media liaison services and media issues management.
