**Bookkeeper/Medical Secretary**
Established oncology practice in Noble Park is currently seeking a bookkeeper/medical secretary to join our small friendly team. The position will report directly to the Practice Manager. Prior experience in a medical environment is essential. The position is for four to five days a week, with the opportunity to potentially work from home on some days.
Key Responsibilities:
- Patient billing and receipting to DVA, Medicare and private health funds - high volume.
- Batching Medicare and DVA.
- Preparation of weekly wages.
- Lodging monthly superannuation.
- Liaising with health funds.
- Liaise with accountant re wages, taxes, superannuation and GST quarterly.
- Accounts payable/receivable.
- Invoicing sessional doctors and banking.
- Debt collection.
- As first point of contact for our patients you must provide exceptional customer service, both in person and over the phone. We are well recognized for our clinical excellence and caring and compassionate staff.
- Highly organized and have a patient focused approach in everything that you do.
- Perform administrative and reception tasks including scheduling appointments, processing patient registrations and referrals, making patient bookings for tests and scanning documents into patient files.
- Liaising with other professional service providers and staff.
- Ensuring patient confidentiality and privacy is maintained at all times.
- Provide administrative support to doctors.
Key skills & experience:
- Experience working within a specialist medical practice is essential.
- Must have accurate data entry, strong attention to detail.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills and a professional manner.
- Sound knowledge of MYOB. Experience using Zedmed and Medical Director preferred but training will be provided.
- Ability to work under pressure with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Capacity to take initiative and follow instructions.
- Well developed verbal and written communications skills.
- Medical typing highly regarded.
- Flexibility to cover other staff during periods of leave is essential.
