The Victorian Patient Transport Assistance Scheme (VPTAS) is a statewide program which provides financial reimbursement for travel and accommodation costs incurred by rural Victorians and their escorts when travelling long distances to access specialist medical services.
As a Victorian Patient Transport Assistance Scheme (VPTAS) Officer, you will be an integral team member responsible for a range of administration tasks associated with the scheme. The VPTAS Officer role involves a focus on continuous improvement as you assist in assessing eligibility for financial reimbursement for travel and accommodation costs incurred by rural Victorians accessing specialist medical services according to established policies and guidelines. Other tasks undertaken include mail management, registering VPTAS claims, and providing outstanding customer service to all VPTAS clients and stakeholders.
Accountabilities
- Explain VPTAS rules, procedures and operational policies to individual clients or colleagues.
- Draft routine VPTAS internal reports and correspondence, liaises with stakeholders, clients and external providers.
- Suggest alternative approaches to clients or stakeholders and understand procedures for effectively dealing with people exhibiting challenging behaviour.
- Develop and maintain knowledge of established VPTAS techniques and organisational processes.
- Have proficient skills in the use of software, and knowledge of legislation, regulations, policies and processes relevant and specific to the VPTAS Officer role.
- Undertake standard processing work, such as data entry, vendor creation requests, payments and reports using office databases, perform telephone duties and other duties as specified.
- Cooperate with managers in consultative processes that improve health and safety by using the relevant tools and systems, such as procedures, guidelines and policies.
- Keep accurate and complete records of your work activities in accordance with legislative requirements and the department's records, information security and privacy policies and requirements.
- Take reasonable care for your own health and safety and for that of others in the workplace by working in accordance with legislative requirements and the department's occupational health and safety (OHS) policies and procedures.
- Demonstrate how the actions and outcomes of this role and work unit impact clients and the department's ability to deliver, or facilitate the delivery of, effective support and services.
