Established in 1871, the Art Gallery of New South Wales is located in Sydney’s The Domain adjacent to the Royal Botanic Garden and near the Central Business District, the Art Gallery acknowledges the original custodians of this land - the Gadigal people of the Eora nation.

The Art Gallery attracts around 2 million visitors annually and runs one of Australia’s largest art education programs with over 90,000 student and teacher visits per year.

Our expanded campus opened in late 2022, providing the Art Gallery with a new state-of-the-art building located next to our existing and much-loved building. The addition has given the Art Gallery double the exhibition space, allowing us to significantly increase our scheduled exhibitions, family programming and educational programs, allowing the Art Gallery to share more art with more people.

**About the role**

The Retail Operations Supervisor is responsible for managing the daily operations of two permanent shops, as well as temporary exhibition shops across the Art Gallery campus. This role will manage the Stock and Sales Officer team and will be responsible for rostering, planning, delegation of daily tasks and overseeing all aspects of customer service. The Retail Operations Supervisor will also manage the point-of-sale system and operate as Head Cashier.

**What technical / soft skills you require**

1. Substantial years retail experience working in a book shop or similar including supervision of floor staff in a busy retail environment.

2. Strong experience in using a digital point of sales system.

3. Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to deal courteously with staff and visitors.

4. Demonstrated experience in money handling, administration, and daily reconciliations.

5. Knowledge of visual arts is preferred but not essential.
