**The Role**
Reporting to the Director, the Assistant Director, Grant Policy and Services is responsible to lead the provision of specialist grant policy advice and guidance to departmental staff, manage grant related reporting internally and externally, lead liaison with the Grant Hubs and represent the department on Grant related forums.

The Procurement and Grant Policy and Services team supports the department to undertake procurement and granting activity in line with all legislative requirements and policy frameworks. The team has a highly positive and energetic culture with a strong focus on delivering high quality advice and services to business areas and the Executive and ensuring best practice for both activities is embedded into the department.

**Duties and Responsibilities**
As an Assistant Director, you will be responsible for:

- Leading the provision of specialist grant policy advice and guidance to business areas to undertake granting activity in line with all legislative requirements and policy frameworks
- Embedding grant capability and best practice through training and education activities.and updating grant related tools and templates
- Preparing briefs, reports and analysis of data on granting and contributing to New Policy Proposals, policy development, Budget and Forward estimates and Senate Orders
- Managing key internal relationships and external relationships, including with the Department of Finance and Grant Administration Hubs
- Representing the department at cross agency working groups and other fora
- Supervising, mentoring and developing staff, including prioritising and managing team workloads
- Convey a positive and professional image of the Department of Education and model the expected behaviours, APS Code of Conduct and APS Values providing support to the SES to deliver departmental and Government priorities.

**Qualifications and Education**
Essential
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in Australian Government grant practices and a sound understanding of related policies.
- Sound understanding of the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013, the Commonwealth Grants Rules and Guidelines.

Desirable
- Experience in grant administration or collaborating with the Community or Business Grant Hubs under the Streamlining Government Grants Administration (SGGA) program.
