**The Role**
We have a number of **exciting Assistant Director positions** to support our newly established Closing the Gap Early Childhood Care and Development Policy Partnership (the Partnership). The Partnership is Co-Chaired by the Department of Education and the national peak body for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and families, _SNAICC - National Voice for our Children_, with membership of the Partnership comprising senior officials from all Australian governments and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander representatives.

The Partnership is a formal partnership between all governments and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander representatives to develop joined up advice to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and families to thrive and develop to meet their potential in the first five years of life. It delivers a key commitment under the National Agreement on Closing the Gap to support genuine partnership between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander representatives and governments to drive progress against all early childhood Closing the Gap targets, which cover maternal and child health, early childhood education and care, child safety, and families and children.

The **Policy and Research Assistant Director** will manage the operations and strategic policy development the Partnership.

The **Governance Assistant Director **will support a new Secretariat function to manage the operations and governance of the Partnership.

Both roles will support our new team to work in partnership with SNAICC, other Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander representatives and government stakeholders to drive improvements in early childhood outcomes.

**Duties and Responsibilities**
The duties and responsibilities of the **Policy and Research Assistant Director **will include:

- manage and build collaborative relationships with Commonwealth agencies, state and territory governments and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander representatives;
- develop the Policy Partnership’s workplan and strategic priorities, in collaboration with SNAICC and other Partnership members;
- develop papers, briefings and research proposals in collaboration with SNAICC and other Partnership members;
- manage project activities, policy analysis, data analysis and research as required by the Partnership; and
- supervise staff and support staff development.

The duties and responsibilities of the
**Governance Assistant Director **will include:

- engage collaboratively with Commonwealth agencies, state and territory governments and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander representatives;
- manage effective Secretariat activities, including drafting agendas, papers, briefings in collaboration with SNAICC and other Partnership members;
- manage project activities, as required by the Partnership;
- manage and coordinate meeting support and logistics for quarterly Partnership meetings;
- develop regular shared reporting to Joint Council on Closing the Gap and a formal review process of the Partnership;
- manage relevant Partnership funding, contracts and grants as required; and
- supervise staff and support staff development.

**Qualifications and Education**
Desirable: Relevant tertiary qualifications will be highly regarded including, but not limited public policy, early childhood, Indigenous affairs and community development.
