**About the Department of Education**
We contribute to Australia's economic prosperity and social wellbeing by creating opportunities and driving better outcomes through access to quality education and learning.

**The Roles**
There are multiple positions available across the Access and Inclusion Branch, in policy, program and data areas.

The Access and Inclusion Branch delivers several large programs that support accessibility and equity of child care, and collaborate with the states and territories on the National Vision for Early Childhood and Education (ECEC). The Branch supports an inclusive ECEC sector and enables greater access for people who would otherwise be unable to access ECEC services. Current work across the Branch includes reviews of several of the programs, renewal of access and inclusion policy, and development of the National Vision for ECEC.

Policy roles
The ECEC Vision and Inclusion Policy team is a small, dynamic team working on future-focused policy that has the potential to transform the sector, working in partnership with stakeholders from across the Commonwealth, the states and territories, and the ECEC sector.

Reporting to the Director, ECEC Vision, the Assistant Director (Policy) is responsible for driving and supporting the work to finalise a national long-term vision for the early childhood education and care sector, and developing policy advice on increasing access to ECEC, including for vulnerable and disadvantaged children and families.

Program roles
The Community Child Care Fund (CCCF) program supports vulnerable and disadvantaged communities in regional and remote locations. The team also manages responses and briefings to address considerable stakeholder interest. The team is geographically diverse and works collaboratively with other areas of the department and external stakeholders.

Reporting to the Director, Community Child Care Fund Open Special and Reporting, the Assistant Director (Program) will support the Director in policy development and program leadership of the CCCF Open-Competitive program. This includes supporting the establishment and delivery of the new CCCF Open grant round, by performing a range of program, policy, and stakeholder engagement activities. This role would also be involved in design of possible future rounds of the grants program, leading policy work, and developing an understanding the broader operating context and an ability to draw links across issues.

Data roles
Reporting to the Director, Community Child Care Fund Open Special and Reporting, the Assistant Director (Data and Reporting) would support the work of the CCCF Program and broader branch in analysing and reporting on key data relating to the program. The position requires strong conceptual and analytical skills, including the ability to represent complex issues clearly and succinctly. This role also requires the ability to build collaborative working relationships across a range of stakeholders, with a preferred understanding of grant management and finance processes.

The Community Child Care Fund Restricted (CCCFR) program supports ECEC services for vulnerable and disadvantaged communities in regional and remote locations. The CCCFR Expansion program is a Closing the Gap initiative establishing new child care services in remote and very remote areas of Australia with a focus on First Nations children and families.

Reporting to the Director, Community Child Care Fund Expansion, the Assistant Director (Program) will support the Director in policy development, stakeholder engagement, and program leadership of the CCCFR Expansion program. This includes supporting the establishment of new CCCFR services, and working with First Nations organisations to support First Nations children and families. The role performs a range of program, policy, and stakeholder engagement activities.

**Duties and Responsibilities**
Responsibilities of the Assistant Director - Policy/Program/Data implementation may include:

- Support the delivery of ECEC programs by performing a range of program and policy implementation, data and reporting, grants and contract management, and stakeholder engagement activities.
- Manage the development and implementation of Branch programs and strategic priorities including enhancing access to ECEC services.
- Draft, prepare and disseminate a range of documents including the ability to write succinctly and persuasively for a variety of purposes, including briefings for Ministers and senior executive, and to convey complex ideas with clarity.
