**About the role**

The Investigator position offers a unique opportunity to contribute significantly to the quality and safety of early childhood education in New South Wales. As an Investigator, you will be part of the Operations Group within the Early Childhood Education and Care Regulatory Authority. This team plays a pivotal role in upholding standards and ensuring compliance across over 6,000 services. By conducting thorough investigations and crafting informed regulatory responses, you will help protect our youngest learners and support the continuous improvement of education and care services.

The responsibilities include:

- Conduct investigations into serious incidents, complaints, and complex non-compliance matters to safeguard the sector’s reputation and children’s safety.
- Gather evidence, prepare detailed reports, and advise on regulatory responses to drive improvements in service quality.
- Maintain comprehensive records and engage with stakeholders to implement effective compliance strategies.
- Engage with governmental and educational stakeholders to facilitate effective compliance
- Handling sensitive situations and navigating complex regulatory environments effectively.

**About you**
- Experience in conducting formal investigations
- Experienced in high-pressure situations
- Proficient in evidence-gathering and report writing
- Effective communicator with strong negotiation skills
- Able to manage sensitive and complex compliance issues
- Skilled in regulatory compliance and risk-based decision-making

**Key knowledge and Experience**
- Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department’s Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department’s Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.

**Essential requirements of the role**
- Relevant qualification and/or equivalent experience in investigations in a regulatory environment.
- Driver license and ability to undertake short term travel, as driving is an essential requirement of this role.
- A valid Working with Children Check clearance.
- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the value of public education.
