**How this position will Make the Difference to City of Melbourne**:
As a Zero Carbon Buildings Officer, you will develop and deliver strategies to reduce building energy use and emissions. You'll implement and improve sustainable building initiatives from the Retrofit Melbourne Plan and engage with stakeholders to promote sustainable practices.

In this role, you'll collaborate with the Zero Carbon City team to achieve zero net emissions by 2040 and lead projects to retrofit buildings for zero carbon readiness.

We're looking for a proactive, innovative thinker committed to sustainability, with experience in sustainable building strategies and strong communication skills for stakeholder engagement.

All CoM employees will demonstrate an ability to demonstrate and display City of Melbourne Values - accountability, integrity, courage, respect for self and others, and striving for excellence.
- Appropriate tertiary qualification in environment, sustainability, public policy, or business related field, or equivalent level of experience.
- Experience in the development, implementation and management of policy and initiatives related to building decarbonisation and environmental sustainability.
- Strong understanding of sustainable building, retrofitting and decarbonisation strategies and approaches including regulation, guidelines, technologies, and State, Federal and International examples of policies and initiatives.
- Proven ability to build and maintain productive networks, engaging with community and business stakeholders and providing high quality customer service.
- Innovative and creative approaches to problem solving.
- High level written and oral communication, interpersonal, influence and negotiation skills.
- Project management skills including demonstrated ability to deliver projects on time and on budget, and to balance and respond to competing priorities.
- A working knowledge of NABERS and the Green Building Council of Australia’s building energy rating tools and methodologies is desirable.
