**About the role**:
The Hosting and Database area within the Infrastructure Service Delivery team is responsible for running Suncorp’s hosting and database platforms.

This Service Specialist role is focused on database technologies, primarily Microsoft SQL and is responsible for governing IT Managed Service Providers to deliver best in class, end-to-end operations and run database services, through governance, reporting and continuous service improvement initiatives.

As Suncorp moves to the new Momentum delivery model, this role is key to support the run function, with dotted line management of service providers both onshore and offshore.

**What you’ll do**:

- Service level management and supplier governance of the Managed Service Provider’s performance both operationally and strategically.
- Ensure adherence to a Build to Run framework enabling a fast pace of change and transition into production.
- Ensure adherence to Suncorp’s SIAM framework to enable quality of Change, Release and Deployment.
- Knowledge management including shift left from L4-L0.
- Ensuring the availability and health of database systems and services.
- Manage Managed Service Provider staff and ensure data is up to date including but not limited to learning and access.
- Reduce technical debt to improve availability and overall costs of maintenance and Managed Service Provider contracts.
- Understand how to contribute to team, business and group priorities and drives priorities with a sense of purpose.
- Develop end-to-end monitoring, alerting and automation to enable proactive operations and self-healing capabilities.
- Support the identification and remediation of complex problems.
- Utilise your technical knowledge and skills to influence priorities, initiatives, roadmaps, enhancements and improvements.
- Work closely with Platform teams to understand dependencies that may impact the successful delivery of projects.

**What you’ll bring**:

- Three years SQL database administration (or equivalent) experience in a medium to large organisation (mandatory)
- Demonstrated knowledge of Infrastructure services (mandatory)
- Previous experience managing MSP’s/partners including SLA’s and contracts; demonstrated outsourcing experience is desirable
- Experience working in the financial/insurance industry would be beneficial
- Strong collaboration skills and the ability to build effective relationships
