Assurance Officer
**About the role
As the Assurance Officer, you will
- Provide informed support to assurance teams by conducting pre-assurance activities involving the collection and organisation of information and data from relevant sources as part of the scoping and progression of assurance activities.
- As a member of the assurance team (under supervision), assist on, as well as occasionally lead assurance activities of registered training organisations for compliance with SAS Agreements and provide advice regarding compliance matters to a range of stakeholders regarding assurance outcomes.
- Participate in the monitoring of SAS performance through a process of continuous improvement and engagement with internal stakeholders as well as related state and federal entities.
- Develop and maintain accurate, valid and comprehensive electronic records related to assurance activity in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as required, including contributing to projects, ensuring agreed outcomes and timelines are met.
What we are looking for
The position requires an applicant who can:
- Demonstrate knowledge of, or the ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of, the vocational education and training sector in Queensland as it relates to SAS Agreements.
- Demonstrate an ability to research, collect and analyse data and information, investigate issues, make decisions and recommendations to achieve objectives.
- Confidently present information in a clear and concise manner in both verbal and written communication including the ability to utilise effective interpersonal, consultation and negotiation skills with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrate an ability to take personal responsibility for timely and accurate completion of work and commit energy and drive to ensure that unit and departmental objectives are achieved.
- As part of a team, participate in activities and projects using initiative to solve problems and make considered, ethical and courageous decisions based on insight into the broader context.
- Work flexibly without supervision (i.e. Effectively manage new and unexpected events and demonstrate judgement about when to escalate issues).
- As officers are sometimes required to drive government vehicles or hire cars as part of their work, holding an unrestricted driver's licence would be advantageous.
Refer to the Role Description for a full list of responsibilities and what we are looking for.
How to apply
- Your current resume
- Provide a short statement (of no more than one page) telling us why you are interested in this role and outlining what your motivation is to join us.
- This should not be a restatement of your resume and does not require you to address the 'What are we looking for' statements. The short statement is your opportunity to tell us about yourself, what you will bring to the role and what you will get out of it.
We're committed to appointing the best-suited person for each role. This includes considering equity, diversity, respect, and inclusion needs within our agency. We believe that these elements are essential for the success of our team, and we strongly encourage applicants from diverse backgrounds to apply. If you require any reasonable adjustments to fully participate in the recruitment process, please do not hesitate to reach out to the designated contact for the vacancy.
