
Public Health Officer

The role The role provides expert-level leadership and strategic direction in public health governance at a state level, with a focus on planning, implementing, and evaluating complex public health policies and initiatives. The incumbent will be responsible for delivering expert counsel to senior management and stakeholders, ensuring that public health strategies align with Queensland Health's goals to improve public health outcomes and manage risk effectively. This role requires the ability to influence strategic policy, lead statewide public health reforms, and facilitate the development of innovative public health initiatives in response to communicable diseases.
The position will lead collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, including national and international partners, to enhance public health intelligence capacity and improve public health policies and practices. A key responsibility is to provide authoritative advice, based on analysis of public health data, to inform decision-making and contribute to evidence-based reforms. The role will also drive business model efficiencies and leverage technology and data to enhance the effectiveness of public health intelligence and practice. Leadership on statewide and national committees is required to position Queensland Health as a leader in public health governance.
