The role The Environmental Health Officer is responsible for protecting and promoting public health within the context of public health legislation and related state, national and international policies and standards relating to food safety and standards policy and regulation.
Additionally, this role develops and reviews routine regulatory and non-regulatory food safety and standards systems and services on a state-wide basis to protect and promote public health and prevent risks arising from environmental hazards. The role is relied upon to facilitate the effective utilisation of food safety policies and strategies within Queensland Health and provide timely and routine advice and assistance to line managers, supervisors, partners and stakeholders.

**The successful personYou will have demonstrated**:

- base level of knowledge, expertise and skill in environmental health and the ability to undertake all routine environmental health clinical practice responsibilities with limited supervision.
- ability or ability to rapidly acquire knowledge and expertise in the interpretation and enforcement of food safety legislation and relevant standards.
- ability to provide competent environmental health clinical advice to stakeholders
- expertise, skills and knowledge to implement projects and research and to critically analyse data, under the supervision and professional guidance of a more senior environmental health officer.
- well developed oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
