**The Role**
The APS 6 Project Support Officer is responsible for managing a range of complex Air Mobility project activities, supporting the C-130J Hercules and the C-27J Spartan aircraft and associate systems.
Your experience and knowledge in the Project Management space will directly support the Royal Australian Air Force to specify, plan and deliver capability enhancement projects as a major component of the role. You will engage with primary contractors and suppliers to effectively monitor, manage and report on contractor performance.
As the APS 6 Project Support Officer, you will:
- Provide operational support to project management and facilitate administrative and coordination requirements.
- Be accountable to lead the development and maintenance of project planning and processes in accordance with agreed procedures and performance standards.
- Research, draft and prepare briefs, complex correspondence and reports including submissions for committee consideration.
- Work collaboratively, operate as an effective team member and provide constructive feedback.
- Engage with relevant stakeholders and understand their expectations and concerns.
- Assess and adjust project management methodologies to comply with legislative, policy and regulatory frameworks.
- Resolve problems using professional expertise, taking the initiative to identify alternative courses of action.
Please note that this role will require face to face contact with all stakeholders and as such you will be required at a minimum working 4 days out of 5 on site at RAAF Base Richmond.
**About our Team**
The Air Lift Systems Program Office (ALSPO) at RAAF Base Richmond is a Business Unit within the Airlift and Tanker Systems branch of the Aerospace Systems Division. ALSPO is the in-service support agency responsible for sustaining and enhancing the RAAF’s C-130J Hercules and C-27J Spartan aircraft. ALSPO, in partnership with industry, exists to support Air Mobility Group achieve its mission by providing effective sustainment support solutions.
The Project Management Unit within ALSPO is a highly capable and professional team operating in a dynamic and challenging work environment supporting Defence capability. Given the integrated nature of our business, building and maintaining cooperative and collaborative relationships are fundamental to our success.
Located in Greater Western Sydney at RAAF Base Richmond, an hour west of Sydney, the Base has an employee accessible gym, tennis and squash court, pool and cinema. ALSPO prides itself on having a strong wellbeing and culture program available and flexible work arrangements can be negotiated.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our Project Management Team, who is excited to work in a high tempo environment.
- Project Management skills and experience, ideally with insight into aerospace engineering environments.
- Experience in governance management related to projects.
- Experience in managing and supporting financial expenditure and estimation.
- Risk analysis and deductive reasoning skills to support effective decision making.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- An ability to work within a diversified team environment, consisting of a range of Defence and industry partners.
- High-level organisational skills, self-drive and initiative with the ability to influence others to achieve tasks and business objectives.
- Capacity to think strategically and develop plans to enhance the achievement of business level outcomes.
- Sound business acumen and a demonstrated understanding of the Defence Industry.
