Accounts Payable Officer

**The Role**

Black Star Pastry is looking for an experienced Accounts Payable Officer to manage the full accounts payable function, as well as perform bookkeeping support services, including the management of efficient and robust reconciliation processes.

Reporting to the Commercial Finance Manager you will be a key asset in delivering efficient and quality account processing to support the business, with a strong focus on internal customer service.

This is a full-time opportunity based in Moore Park initially before we moving to a brand new site in Alexandria later in the year.

Your core responsibilities will include
- Manage and reconcile accounts payable functions including:

- Reconcile supplier statements and cross-check invoices to delivery dockets.
- Ensure appropriate approvals are provided prior to payment.
- Enter sales invoices and data for the external POS system.
- Enter purchases and complete weekly payment runs.
- Accurately perform full bookkeeping support services, including:

- Bank reconciliations
- Credit card reconciliations
- Armaguard deposits.
- Assist with the timely preparation and completion of mid-month and month end reporting, including balance sheet reconciliations.
- Provide oversight of supplier contracts and support market reviews to drive savings and consistency of service.
- Contribute towards strategies which reduce input costs and challenge supplier terms for the benefit of the organisation
- Ensure proper procedures and controls exist for purchasing, receiving, and storing functions.
- Work with business department managers on managing risk and compliance obligations (e.g. regulation and licensing) to ensure compliance.
- Support and promote procedures which improve our internal control environment and reconciliations.
- Perform ad-hoc duties as assigned to you, and actively participate in team meetings.
- Additional general bookkeeping/accounting support for wider business.

You will be a skilled Accounts Payable Officer with 3-4 years bookkeeping experience focussing on the full end-to-end Accounts Payable function.

Knowledgeable in a range of accounting tasks with a strong focus on exceptional internal customer service you will be highly organised and capable of managing your priorities with mínimal direction.

Building positive relationships quickly, together with strong attention to detail will be considered some of your strengths, as is your critical thinking ability and knack for multi-tasking.

Industry experience in hospitality, food & beverage or retail will be highly regarded, but more importantly we are looking for someone who is warm, practical, open to learning new things
- and can self-manage.

A degree in a relevant field would be highly regarded but is not essential.

Xero experience would be helpful. Excel is a must.

Black Star Pastry opened its first boutique patisserie in Newtown in 2008. The brand has since become a Sydney institution, famous for the Strawberry Watermelon Cake, with stores in Rosebery, The Entertainment Quarter, Sydney’s CBD as well as its original home in Newtown.

More recently the business further expanded to Melbourne with stores in St Kilda and Chadstone and the CBD.
