Media Advisor

Reporting to the Media Manager, the Media Adviser will deliver expert communications advice and assistance to stakeholders across the department and to ministers' offices. They will contribute to the development and implementation of innovative and comprehensive communications and media strategies for major policies and projects and be responsible for the evaluation of these strategies.
The incumbent will work closely with branch colleagues and relevant business areas within the department to ensure that communication with stakeholders is clear, engaging and timely, and is clearly aligned to the department's strategic plan. They will collaborate with teams across the branch to create compelling communications and media products for a range of purposes and audiences, including fact sheets, newsletters, and materials for online and social media, media releases, and communications campaigns.
As appropriate, they may also be required to provide support to other teams across the Branch as and when required, including participating in out of hours media and emergency rosters, providing support for public emergencies, large-scale communications campaigns and other high priority projects, to contribute the effective management of work across the Branch and department.

**Accountabilities**:

- Contribute to the development, delivery and evaluation of communication and media strategies and activities, including production of print, online and multimedia materials and delivery of departmental events.
- Provide communications advice and work collaboratively across the department to ensure the delivery of effective communication that is of a high written and visual standard and which complies with departmental and whole-of-Victorian Government guidelines.
- As necessary, work with suppliers and contractors and be accountable for the successful delivery of communications and media products and projects in relation to standards, budgetary outcomes, stakeholder expectations and client needs.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and work collaboratively to increase the effectiveness of the department's communications.
- Assess and respond to policy and process changes and act as a change agent to support initiatives aligned to the department's corporate direction.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
- Ensure a sound understanding of the work of the other portfolios within the department.
- Provide support to other teams across the branch as and when required, including support for public emergencies, large-scale communication campaigns and other high priority projects, to contribute the effective management of work across the branch and department.
- Keep accurate and complete records of your work activities in accordance with legislative requirements and the department's records, information security and privacy policies and requirements.
- Take reasonable care for your own health and safety and for that of others in the workplace by working in accordance with legislative requirements and the department's occupational health and safety (OHS) policies and procedures.
- Demonstrate how the actions and outcomes of this role and work unit impact clients and the department's ability to deliver, or facilitate the delivery of, effective support and services.
