Court Services Victoria provides corporate services and facilities to support the performance of the judicial, quasi-judicial and administrative functions of Victoria's courts and tribunal, Judicial College and Judicial Commission.

Collectively, Victoria's Supreme, County, Magistrates', Children's, and Coroners courts, the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT), the Judicial College of Victoria, the Judicial Commission of Victoria, and Court Services Victoria (CSV) are referred to as the 'Courts Group'.

The Media Engagement and Public Affairs Branch collaborates with journalists covering court proceedings, addressing both jurisdictional-specific and broader media inquiries, developing a proactive media strategy, and contributing to cross-jurisdictional and cross-government matters as needed.

**About the Role**

This role assists media to cover the courts and upholds and strengthens the reputation of Courts Group. The role understands how to interact with the media, identifies key stakeholders, and keeps track of media coverage. This role also assists in the preparation of press materials, manages media lists, and monitors media reports.

Key accountabilities include:

- Understanding media relations protocols, developing awareness of stakeholders, and monitoring media coverage
- Assisting in drafting basic press materials and reports
- Supporting the preparation of media lists and media monitoring reports
- Liaising with journalists and assisting with the management of non-publication court orders, including distribution, storage and quality checks as well as provide training and support for Courts Group staff
- Co-ordinating media accreditation for court reporters where relevant including the renewal of registrations and providing court media passes
- Responding to daily requests for sentences and liaising with judges, associates and tipstaves ensuring information and released items are provided in a timely, responsive manner
- Collation and circulation of daily media monitoring including daily newspaper clips and managing requests for news items from judges and senior staff

**About You**
- Proven ability to develop and maintain relationships with key media contacts and stakeholders
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience developing and executing media engagement strategies
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
- A relevant tertiary qualifications in communications, journalism or related field is desirable
