A new state government entity, MAP Co is responsible for the delivery of the Melbourne Arts Precinct Transformation project as well as the operations, programming, promotion and maintenance of Federation Square and the new Melbourne Arts Precinct public spaces.

The Melbourne Arts Precinct Transformation project will deliver The Fox: NGV Contemporary, a new gallery dedicated to contemporary art and design; an 18,000 square metre public urban garden in the heart of the precinct; significant upgrades to the State Theatre; and new restaurants and bars throughout the space. When complete, the Melbourne Arts Precinct will shine a light on Australia's incredible creative talent and serve a global cultural tourist drawcard.

The Role

In this role you will support and drive positive awareness through pro-active and re-active media, stakeholder engagement and strategic communications activities - primarily for the Melbourne Arts Precinct Transformation (MAPT) project but also for Fed Square and MAP Co when required.
Accountabilities
- Support the delivery of media, social media (including the MAP Co LinkedIn channel) and communications strategies that drive positive awareness of MAP Co, Fed Square and the transformation of the Melbourne Arts Precinct
- Drive effective communications projects that promote MAPT, Fed Square and the broader arts precinct
- Support stakeholder and community engagement activities for MAPT project including pop-up events and community info sessions
- Draft effective communications materials including media releases, fact sheets, Q&A's, briefing and speaking notes
- Respond to and effectively manage media enquiries
- Liaise with stakeholders including project partners, State Government, local council, and tourism bodies
- Identify and notify the Media & Communications Manager of any risks to MAP Co, Fed Square and MAPT and draft potential communication
- Manage the day-to-day drafting and uploading of news and social media posts to MAP Co's LinkedIn and website.
Your Experience
- Experience in media, communications or marketing role
- Good understanding of the local and national media and communications landscape
- Demonstrated relationships with local and national media and experience in generating earned editorial
- Previous experience working in a stakeholder rich environment
- Exposure in crisis communications
- Experience in planning and delivering events such as VIP, media, stakeholder or community events
- A strong communicator with a proven ability to identify and articulate newsworthy angles/stories and adapt communications effectively to different audiences
- Solid writing skills with the ability to adapt to various channels required within this role
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, visitor centric environment with significant stakeholder impact.
- Ability to work across varied sectors and topics including construction, city development, arts, culture, events, food and drink and the local political environment
- Government relations experience beneficial including preparation of Ministerial media briefs, key messages, and Q&A.
**Qualifications**:
- Degree in Communications, Marketing, Media or Journalism
