The Department of Justice and Community Safety (the department) is seeking a Principal Consultant, Redress Support Services to provide a critical role within Redress Design, Police and Community Safety.

**About the business unit**

Redress Design is responsible for developing and implementing redress schemes that acknowledge past harm, provide a range of support options for individuals who have experienced harm, and operate independently from the organisation responsible for causing the harm. It provides high-quality strategic policy advice, makes recommendations to government for new scheme design and operational models, and is responsible for administration and delivery of frontline services.

**About the role**

The Principal Consultant, Support Services is a new role and reports to the Senior Manager, Support Services. The role supports the Senior Manager to mentor and support a multi-disciplinary team dedicated to providing case management support to participants to the schemes administered by the business unit. This involves building and embedding a culture of high performance through mentoring and coaching, as well as identifying opportunities for improvement, identifying risks, and developing response strategies.

Some of your duties will include:

- Oversee and facilitate effective participant access to counselling, wellbeing, and other appropriate therapeutic services through embedded practices to build safety and trust for the participant.
- Provide advice, strategic direction and mentoring to staff undertaking case management work to ensure consistent and integrated practices to account for individual experience.
- Effectively use business technology, systems, procedures, and financial and political nous, to achieve the best outcome(s) for participants.

**About you**

To be successful in this role, you will have:

- Extensive experience in providing victim-centric case management to vulnerable individuals, with specialist knowledge in allied health, or working with victims of crime, abuse and/or sexual violence.
- Demonstrable experience in leading and managing staff in a service delivery context.
- Ability to develop policy frameworks for the schemes and an understanding of the unique considerations of participant-centred restorative justice.

**Qualifications**
- A recognised Social Work degree or similar such as Psychology, Human Services or Criminal Justice would be highly regarded.
- A practice component in a related field (such as victim-centric services, community services, therapeutic justice, or case work) would be highly regarded.
- Experience in the health sector and related fields such as oncology, palliative care and/or aged care would be an advantage.
