**The Role**
The Predictive Analyst will help shape the ongoing development of the knowledge acquisition, representation and reasoning area within the SRA discipline, which involves collaboration with military clients, academia, other parts of ISD and other divisions across DSTG. The role will also involve leading a small team to conduct cutting edge research & development into techniques that exploit classified and other data sources to inform the understanding of complex situations and support robust decision making.

Duties also include:

- Conducting research into state-of-the-art techniques for knowledge representation and contextual reasoning;
- Developing prototype software tools to support joint operational decision for planning and the execution of joint operations; and
- Monitoring the latest advances in knowledge representation, ontology development, reasoning under uncertainty, and related fields.

**About our Team**
This role sits within the Situation Representation & Analytics (SRA) discipline of the Artificial Intelligence and Decision Analytics (AIDA) Science and Technology Capability in the Intelligence Analysis (IA) Major Science and Technology Capability of Information Sciences Division.

The AIDA STC comprises a multi-disciplinary team that researches, develops and applies artificial intelligence and related technologies to support adaptive situational awareness and understanding, through the use of multi-source data and information analysis. This work is being applied to the geopolitical domain to enhance the robustness of decision making within joint command and control, directly supporting Headquarters Joint Operations Command, the Agile C2 STaR Shot program, and the Chief of Joint Capabilities’ program around Warfighting Networks and Applications in the future strategic and technological environment.

The Situation Representation and Analytics Discipline’s role is to derive contextual insights from Defence and open source data and information to support operational and strategic level decision making. It does so by seeking to understand the potential of AI and related data analytics techniques to acquire and represent knowledge about complex situations, and to reason about them as they evolve over time. The work is grounded in real world problems and employs military knowledge to address situations involving information warfare and deterrence military response options.
