**The Role**
The First Nations and Inclusion Branch is made up for four teams. The **First Nations Partnership** and **First Nations Policy Team** work jointly to strengthen relationships with First Nations partners, state and territory governments and commonwealth government departments and agencies. Together these teams also aim to influence and assist the Skills Group’s internal and external efforts towards Closing the Gap priority reforms one to four. The **Place-based Delivery and Data Access team leads** and implements a place-based measure under the Whole-of-Government Central Australia response, the Remote Training Hubs Network. These teams work with the **Student Pathways and Inclusion Team** who leads and influences policy and advice for VET delivered to Secondary Students.

We are seeking a team-orientated, flexible and highly motivated person to work with the First Nations Partnership and Policy teams to help deliver the Commonwealth’s Closing the Gap commitments under the National Skills Agreement to improve First Nations VET outcomes.
Reporting to the Assistant Director, the Project and Stakeholder Officer is responsible for:

- project management and coordination activities
- contract management assistance including assisting with grants and procurement tendering processes
- managing an external facing inbox, including identifying highest priorities, distributing tasks and coordinating timely responses
- supporting the team’s administration processes including record management and systems development
- supporting engagement with First Nations providers, peak organisations and communities.

**Skills and Capabilities**
We are seeking individuals with the following skills and capabilities:

- a genuine interest and awareness of issues affecting First Nations people and an ability to contribute sensitively and effectively to partnering with First Nations providers, peak organisations and communities
- an ability to be flexible, highly motivated and contribute to the delivery of tasks, often under tight timelines
- well-developed verbal and interpersonal skills, including the ability to liaise with a broad range of stakeholders
- well-developed administrative, organisational, and written communication skills
- critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- ability to work autonomously and collaboratively with others

**The Opportunity**
This position is available to Ongoing Department of Employment and Workplace Relations and/or APS employees as a temporary transfer at level and/or a temporary performance (Acting) opportunity for a period of 5 months, with the possibility of extension.

**Qualifications and Education**
There are no mandatory requirements for this position. Qualifications or equivalent experience in project management, grants and / or procurement will be highly regarded.
