Develop & implement a program of work to increase access to aged care for those vulnerable in the community.
**Your new company**
This Government Department is working at the forefront of delivering a high level of policies and programs to the public contributing to their health and well-being. This team is responsible for policy and program management to develop an aged care system which is accessible and respectful of each individual’s characteristics and life experiences. This involves implementing diversity-related aged care reform measures and influencing and informing work across the aged care group to embed diversity as core business in the aged care system.
Currently, they have a need for a high performing APS6 policy officer to join the team to work on a number of ongoing health reforms that aim to increase aged care access for vulnerable people in our community.
**Your new role**
As the policy & program officer, you will be responsible for:
- Developing and implementing a program of work to increase access to aged care for people with diverse backgrounds engaging with key stakeholders, including services that support the aged care sector to better meet the needs of older people.
- Establishing and managing projects to deliver short and medium-term outcomes.
- Policy research, analysis and advice.
- Analysing and interpreting data and other sources of information to determine areas of focus and concern.
- Preparing briefs and other written materials.
- Coordinating engagement and managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
**What you'll need to succeed**
To succeed in this role, you will be a high-performing individual with policy and program management experience. As well as this, you will have:
- Experience or interest in policy development and establishing programs, with the ability to think strategically and solve complex problems.
- A good communicator (both verbal and written) with the ability to convey complex issues simply.
- Calm and able to thrive under pressure and competing deadlines.
- Details and results oriented.
- A good team player with the ability to establish and maintain productive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Data literacy is ideal but not required.
