If so, you may be well suited to our role as a Contracting and Policy Officer within our Support Office Foreign Military Sales (FMS) business unit located in the vibrant Melbourne CBD.

FMS is the US/Australian program for acquiring military capability form the United States Government. Our Melbourne office is responsible for providing support to the 500+ agreements that are presently in place with the United States Government.

The Contracting and Policy Officer is responsible for actively instigating and managing various contracts including domestic procurements (training, information technology) and United States Government FMS Letters of Offer and Acceptance. As a valued member of the Support Office FMS, the successful applicant will also be responsible for policy and procedural preparedness as Defence upgrades their supply systems to a SAP operating environment.

**About our Team**
The Support Office FMS is an integrated office, delivering support to the Project Offices and System Program Offices that procure and sustain FMS products. The office acts as a centre of knowledge for FMS users where improvement of FMS processes and user experience is our primary role.

You’ll have the opportunity to:

- Engage with stakeholders to develop current FMS training courses.
- Develop policy and procedures for FMS as we transition to a SAP based system.
- Be involved in the case management of the business unit FMS cases; and

As the Contracting and Policy Officer you will be required to complete a range of key competences.

Communicating and Networking

We are looking for a team member that is an excellent communicator and is able to establish effective relationships with our contractors, uniform and APS staff to ensure reliable service delivery, particularly in information technology and training provision.

Procurement

In the context of your role you will be required to manage simple procurement activities.

Commitment to compliance

We are looking for a Contracting and Policy Officer who can develop a working knowledge of FMS agreements while adhering to the agreed Australian and United States procedures.

Contract Management

You will have experience in contract management where you will have the opportunity to implement and manage Information Technology and Training contracts. This will include the opportunity to work with Defence Information Technology, Training and Development Specialists.

Writing Experience

We are looking for a team member that has strong writing skills that can be honed to Defence writing policy and procedures. You will be supported while developing your writing to meet Defence standards.
