**The Opportunity**

The position of an Integrity Officer in racing, known as a Steward, is a multi-faceted role that is responsible for ensuring the conduct of the racing industry complies with industry and community expectations with respect to fairness, safety, and high standards of welfare for all involved.

Combining race day and non-race day functions, it requires elements of investigation, inquiry, compliance, interpretation of rules and regulations along with judicial functions in the determination of matters. This includes regulating all activities undertaken by licensed persons as they relate to racing, prohibited substance control, animal welfare and work health and safety.

During this 18-month traineeship you will have opportunity to learn all aspects of racing administration / stewardship through direct involvement whilst progressing to the role of a Steward.

Longer-term the role provides opportunity to develop skills and experience to progress to higher levels of regulatory and integrity operations either within other codes of racing or other sporting bodies that also regulate integrity.

**_ This is a great opportunity to travel to race meetings within metro and regional WA and after successfully completing the first 6 months of your training you will be rewarded with a salary increase._**

**A day on the job will include**:

- Learning all aspects and procedures relating to the running of races by being a hands-on member of the team.
- Significant travel and weekend work.
- Attendance at internal and external courses as designated, including exposure to other codes of racing in Western Australia.

**About You**
- Experience in an administrative office role
- Practical and theoretical knowledge of greyhounds would be an advantage.
- Knowledge and understanding of the racing and wagering industry would be highly regarded
- Well developed communication and interpersonal skills
- Sound computer literacy skills - Microsoft Office / Windows environment
- Current Senior First Aid certificate would be preferredCurrent ‘C’ class drivers’ licence
- Completion of year 12
