**About the Role**
Reporting directly to the Ombudsman this role provides advice and support to the Ombudsman and forms a key part of the Executive Leadership Team (ELT). The role includes effectively delivering administration and corporate support functions to support the Ombudsman and ensure the smooth running of the ASBFEO office. Additionally, this role will drive employee engagement and human resource activities to deliver an employer of choice environment.
**Duties**
The main areas of focus for the role are:
- Work alongside the Ombudsman and the ELT in all aspects of strategic planning, prioritisation of engagement with stakeholders and provide advice on risk, including shaping the forward agenda and work program;
- Provide executive support to the Ombudsman and other senior executives;
- Manage the Ombudsman’s correspondence and forward work program, scheduling, organising and prioritising meetings, responses and engagements;
- Lead the corporate functions for the office including Human Resources, travel, information technology, finance and procurement, and property and security;
- Lead an effective Administration and capability team to provide seamless support and services to the office and deliver on procurement and contracting requirements, while exercising discretional decision making;
- Provide strategic advice to the Ombudsman and ELT on staff engagement;
- Deliver employee engagement programs with a focus of creating an inclusive culture and delivering an employer of choice environment;
- Engage and maintain strong relationships within the office, the Department, the Minister’s office and with external stakeholders;
- Provide effective Human Resources advice and policy guidance for recruitment, performance management and workforce planning;
- deliver culture and engagement strategies and initiatives for the office;
- Respond to and triage urgent, complex and sensitive people matters to achieve outcomes, considering and providing policy guidance;
- Independently lead the Secretariat function for both the National Small Business Commissioners (SBC) Bi-Monthly Meetings and the Federal Regulatory Agency Group (FRAG) Quarterly meetings. Manage the bi-annual joint meetings (SBC & FRAG); and
**Skills required**
The successful applicant will bring:
- Demonstrated experience in delivering effective and responsive administration and engagement capability services to multiple stakeholders;
- Proven experience in delivering effective stakeholder engagement programs;
- Demonstrated experience in managing multiple complex deliverables at one time;
- Excellent communication skills (both written and spoken);
- Outstanding stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders;
- High level negotiation skills and the ability to maintain positive, close working relationships with other support teams and service providers;
- A proven ability to forward plan and problem solve complex issues; and
- Capability to contribute to the ELT of the organisation
**Qualifications and Experience**
- Human Resources or Business Management Tertiary qualifications arehighly desirable;
- Proven experience in leading multiple Secretariats concurrently;
- Substantial experience in support roles to Senior Executives;
- Working knowledge of and practical experience within a small and family business; and
- A passion and empathy with small and family business.
