Deliver a responsive, efficient and effective Animal Management service where you contribute to upholding our vibrant and safe community through provision of exceptional customer service.
About the role
Reporting to the Team Leader Field Services, the position is responsible for working collaboratively with all levels of employees across Council and liaising with external stakeholders including Victoria Police, Magistrates Court and Council Prosecutors.
Informing and educating the community on issues related to Animal Management in accordance with relevant legislation and Council policy is fundamental to the role. The Animal Management Officer investigates complaints, promotes safety and compliance and enforces the Acts, Regulations and Amenity Local Law. This includes regular dog park patrols and investigations into registration and dog attack matters. An understanding of Local Law and Parking enforcement is also desirable.
Essentially, a customer first mindset is required where an emphasis is placed on superior customer service and providing a prompt and courteous response to all enquiries received and with ongoing case management issues.
Hours are allocated over a 16-week roster and some weekend work is required.
About you
You will have demonstrated experience in customer service positions within a high-pressure environment. Your key attributes include excellent advocacy with the ability to negotiate and resolve problems with empathy and respect.
Physically you will need to be able to walk long distances and handle animals.
Qualification Requirements
Industry recognised course in Animal Management, Enforcement, Local Laws, or similar
Employment Requirements
Applicants must have the right to work in Australia.
Preferred applicants will be required to undergo a National Police Record Check
Preferred applicants will be required to hold a current Working with Children Check
