**We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Employee Relations Specialist ANZ to join our Australia Human Resource Team. This role will serve as the Employee Relations Specialist (ER) for Australia & New Zealand (ANZ) / Asia Pacific Region (APAC), as well as leading project related activities in support of the ANZ / APAC ELR organization.

**A Day In the Life
**Reporting to the HR Director, the ER Specialist works directly with Sr. leaders, managers and employees to provide advice and coach both parties on all employee relations issues including guidance on performance management, disciplinary processes, restructuring activities, legal issues, investigations, conflict management, etc.

Represents Employee & Labour Relations (ELR) ANZ / APAC on assigned Global ELR focus areas and will work in close partnership with the Global Program Manager. Keeps oversight and supports projects and programs linked to the ANZ / APAC ELR strategy and ensures project charters are defined, timelines are met, possible risks & barriers are identified, and mitigation for these is put in place.

**Responsibilities**:

- Performs effective case management of people related issues such as: ER issues, disciplinary actions, legal issues (harassment, discrimination, etc.), performance management (including Performance Improvement Plans and Coaching plans), exit interviews, policy interpretation and investigations.
- Consults and coaches leaders on employee relations, performance management, reorganization. Partners closely with the HR Business Partner and other Centers of Expertise (CoE’s) on organizational effectiveness issues spanning all levels within the organization related to ER.
- Provides counsel and facilitates prompt and effective resolution of workplace conflict to address issues for employees, managers, and leaders in a manner consistent with Medtronic policies, practices and legal considerations.
- Enters and updates cases in the ER Case Management System (ServiceNow) Drives the coordination and supports with the execution of reductions in force by consulting/partnering with the Enterprise Excellence ELR Partner, HRBP, Business Managers, Legal, Finance and Security.
- Partners with Legal & Compliance in conducting investigations, research policies/practices, creates and gathers documentation, makes recommendations and implements resolutions when applicable.
- Maintains strict confidentiality throughout conversations and investigations. Manages highly confidential human resources information and exercises sound judgment in handling or working with confidential data and situations.
- Participates in the identification of employee relations trends and partners on identifying solutions and building manager skills, validating results/findings with the local HRBP and site leadership.
- Partners with HRBP and other HR COEs, to ensure a high level of employee satisfaction & engagement and appropriately plan, facilitates and monitors employee programs.
- Effectively navigates a highly matrix environment ensuring alignment, regular communication and follow-up with multiple stakeholders as required.
- Represents ELR ANZ / APAC on assigned Global ELR focus areas and works in close partnership with the Global Program Manager.
- Keeps oversight and supports projects and programs linked to the ANZ / APAC ELR strategy and ensures project charters are defined, timelines are met, possible risks & barriers are identified, and mitigation for these is put in place.
- Identifies and escalates competing demands, proposes solutions on how to best address these.
- Ensures proper change management plans are designed and implemented to help the ANZ / APAC ELR organization and related stakeholders navigate through the change resulting from global and regional ELR related projects.

**Must Have**:

- Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline (e.g. Human Resources, Law).
- A demonstrated understanding of labor laws and ELR related regulations in ANZ / APAC;
- Good understanding of project management practices

**Nice to Have**
- Experience providing HR support in a corporate and/or commercial site;
- Experience with supporting managers through various ER issues, disciplinary actions, conflict resolution, investigating harassment, discrimination, etc.;
- Experience with performance management (including Performance Improvement Plans and Coaching plans), reduction in force, policy interpretation and/or conducting investigations.
- Ability to communicate effectively (oral/written);
- Proven organization skills and ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects or cases;
- Demonstrated ability to interpret HR policies and procedures as well as, country specific legislation.
- Demonstrated ability to provide proactive partnership to leaders;
- Demonstrated collaboration, influencing and project leadership skills;
- Proven ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment;
