**Job specific duties**
As the Assistant Director, you will be required to:

- Provide expert advice and leadership in data governance
- Lead the development and implementation of organisational data governance frameworks with a focus on whole of data life-cycle, data quality and protecting sensitive data through modifications to organisation behaviour, policies and standards, process, governance metrics, related tools and data architecture
- Establish and maintain links across the organisation to ensure data governance aligns to other governance frameworks, such as information, IT and corporate governance
- Maintain awareness and support education for new legislative requirements, risk and trends that impact good data governance and ensuring organisational compliance
- Including regulatory and compliance reporting, data access, data security, privacy, and ethics
- Prepare high quality briefing material and analytical reports to senior management and key stakeholders to inform and influence routine or complex decision making.
- Contribute to continuous improvement in processes to ensure efficiency and resilience are maintained, NHMRC data sets are ‘fit for purpose’ and data related risks are managed appropriately
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders acting as a point of contact for data governance, to ensure adherence with the data governance frameworks and associated data management processes
- Contribute to organisational change management initiatives to drive organisational transformation and improve performance
- Develop business cases and feasibility studies to support proposed initiatives and projects.
- Work closely with project teams to translate business requirements into functional specifications and technical solutions

- Ability to adapt or develop new methods, systems or policies to simplify user experiences while achieving business objectives and meeting all compliance requirements
- A high level of integrity, self-awareness, professionalism and accountability

- Member of the Data Professional Stream
- Data related qualifications
- Experience with analysing business requirements, processes, effort and cost to identify opportunities for improvement
- Experience managing governance forums
- Experience training and educating staff
