The Australian Payroll Group is a leading organisation dedicated to promoting excellence in payroll practices across Australia. We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to join our team as the Head of Professional Services in our payroll consulting practice.

**Responsibilities**:
Leadership
Provide strategic direction and leadership for the Australian Payroll Consulting practice. This will be underpinned by a drive to navigate change, foster creativity, and cultivate a culture of innovation. In addition, your leadership mindset will look to adopt forward thinking strategies, encourage experimentation, and embrace new ideas and technologies that help the products and services offered by Australian Payroll Consulting stay competitive and deliver continued growth.
This role will also have full accountability for the P/L.
Project Management
Oversee and lead payroll consulting and advisory projects ensuring timely delivery and quality outcomes. Develop and implement project plans, timelines, and budgets, monitoring progress and making necessary adjustments. Coordinate cross-functional teams and stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and collaboration. Identify and mitigate project risks, providing timely resolutions and contingency plans.
Client Consultation, Sales and Support
Helping drive the acquisition of new business by acting as a thought leader and trusted advisor to Clients and potential new Clients. Understand Client needs and requirements, translating them into practical solutions and actionable strategies. Deliver exceptional Client support, promptly addressing inquiries, resolving issues, and maintaining strong relationships.
Compliance and Regulatory Expertise
Stay up to date with relevant payroll legislation, regulations, and compliance requirements.
Ensure organisational payroll practices align with legal and regulatory standards, implementing necessary updates or changes. Advise the APC team and Clients on compliance matters, proactively identifying risks and recommending appropriate actions.
Team Leadership and Development
Lead and develop a high performing team, fostering a culture of excellence, innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning. Recruit, onboard, and train payroll consultants, providing mentorship and guidance for their professional growth. Set performance goals, conduct performance evaluations, and provide constructive feedback to team members.
**About You**:
- Strong project management skills, with a track record of successfully leading and delivering complex projects.
- Comfortable selling and taking responsibility for driving the acquisition of new business by acting as a thought leader and trusted business advisor.
- Extensive experience in operational payroll management, preferably in Australian payroll.
- Analytical mindset and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and address payroll related challenges.
- Experience managing recruitment, objectives setting, coaching and performance monitoring of the Australian Payroll Consulting team.
- Leadership capabilities, including the ability to inspire and motivate a team to achieve goals and deliver exceptional results.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and a commitment to delivering high quality work.
- Relevant certifications or qualifications in payroll, project management, or related fields would be advantageous.
