Our Federal Government client is seeking to engage an APS5 Finance Officer on a contract for 7 months with potential extension for 2x6 months.

**Position Overview**

**Duties & Responsibilities**:

- Duties may include some or all the following:_
- allocate work to team members, using judgement to match issue complexity and employee capability, and reduce peaks and troughs in workload
- assist in the mentoring and training of new staff to build knowledge and capability
- assist with asset management
- contribute to the development and implementation of improvements and best practice in processes and procedures
- cost proposals and initiatives as required
- draft a range of written material including business cases, reports, executive briefs and corporate documentation
- escalate issues that adversely impact on policy, performance and/or service
- establish, manage and provide financial management advice to internal and external stakeholders to improve the financial management and operations in the agency
- exercise appropriate delegations in accordance with legislation and guidelines
- maintain up to date knowledge of agency related legislation, policy and processes and transfer knowledge to other team members
- monitor and manage work output and quality against established performance standards through quality analysis and reporting
- monitor and report on the achievement of business outcomes, key performance indicators and quality assurance to assist local management to manage overall performance
- provide feedback to staff to improve quality, consistency and accuracy of decision making
- provide finance support and advice to business areas
- undertake financial administration across the division’s cost centres and projects, including budgets, monitoring, forecasting and accruals
- undertake weekly, end of month and end of financial year SAP FI system rollover activities and provide assistance to users of SAP FI as required.

- relevant systems and tools
- roles and responsibilities of the agency including the legislative, regulatory and compliance frameworks
- the Australian Accounting Standards
- the Enterprise Agreement and conditions of employment
- the agency’s privacy, ethics, workplace health and safety and security protocols
- the agency’s strategic and operating environment
- the function of the work area and its role in the wider agency
- the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act (PGPA).
