**Your opportunity**:
The Director, Office of the Deputy Director-General, Schools and Student Support is an influential role in a fast-paced environment, where you will provide policy, strategic and executive support to a senior executive as well as providing leadership across the division.
This role demands a high-performing, experienced officer who is adept at navigating various sources of information and using their extensive networks to coordinate advice and respond to the wide range of complex and often sensitive issues that arise in the state schooling portfolio.
If you have a track record of developing strategies for business improvement, are experienced providing expert advice and support to a senior executive, and possess a strong understanding of the strategic priorities and needs of Queensland state schools, this may be the role for you.

**Your role**:
**As Director, you will (but not limited to)**:

- Manage and coordinate the business planning functions of the Office of the Deputy Director-General and provide strategic input into portfolio planning and reporting;
- Provide high-level support and advice to the Deputy Director-General, Schools and Student Support Division, including preparation of presentations and speeches in relation to client focused service delivery options across the division;
- Operate in a high-volume work environment with competing demands and strict deadlines while at all times displaying diplomacy and discretion;
- Prepare high-level strategic advice to departmental senior executives on emergent and critical issues that may require sensitive management and immediate attention;
- Develop and guide the development of a range of written materials that support advice to senior executives, including correspondence, media and briefing materials on issues related to the state schooling sector;
- Manage, coordinate and undertake high-level research and analysis activities to support business priorities and the provision of advice to the Deputy Director-General;
- Establish key internal and external relationships and maintain networks and liaise with senior officers and representatives in a range of government and non-government agencies on a diverse range of complex education and state schooling issues;
- Represent the Deputy Director-General in a variety of key departmental, working parties and project teams and high-level meetings; and
- Contribute to building and maintaining the culture of the work area to support the Department's values.

- Demonstrated effectiveness as a leader and a track record of achievement within a complex environment;
- Demonstrated ability to think strategically and present a range of solutions to complex issues;
- Demonstrated stakeholder engagement skills with both internal and external stakeholder groups;
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, and the ability to provide accurate and timely advice within tight timelines;
- Demonstrated ability to gather information from a range of sources and undertake critical analysis; and
