**About the role**:
Ampol’s Inventory Costing Team is responsible for the delivery of efficient, accurate and timely inventory cost accounting to support and contribute to the achievement of Ampol’s strategy.

The Inventory Costing Team Lead prepares monthly closing fuel inventory costing valuations, including reconciliation of inventory volume movements and the calculation of inventory cost.

Reporting to the F&I Accounting Manager within the Group Finance division, the role also supports and upskills a team of 3 Inventory Costing Accountants.

**Key responsibilities include**:

- Investigate and resolve material inventory volume and dollar reconciling items
- Ensure accurate inventory master data, including setting up cost estimates for new plants/products and update monthly standard cost estimates
- Ensure accurate and timely forecast and budget of closing inventory volume and dollars
- Provide daily forecast for trading cashflows to Treasury and perform payment check
- Undertake projects or special reviews as required
- Prepare and submit the Australian Petroleum Statistics and The Survey of Producer Prices
- Manage and co-ordinate the Trading Accounting team workflow including allocation of resources and reviewing completion of account reconciliations for spot trading, term contracts and borrow/loan accounts
- Maintain the integrity of financial information by ensuring compliance with Ampol accounting policies, accounting standards and internal controls
- Build and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders across Ampol, including external parties
- Develop and enhance people and processes so that organisational capability remains effective and efficient to adapt to business needs and in line with best practices

**About you**:
You will have relevant tertiary and CA/CPA qualifications along with 3 to 5 years’ post qualification experience in Inventory Cost Accounting, ideally from an ASX listed corporation.

**Key skills and experience**:

- Demonstrated team leadership experience, 1-2 direct reports
- Ability to work and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders including Government and regulatory bodies
- Strong attention to detail and a curious mind
- Sound understanding of key accounting principles
- An ability to analyse, understand and solve problems
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Enthusiasm/commitment to continuous improvement
- Advanced knowledge of SAP
- Intermediate/Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
