**About the Opportunity**

As part of the Regulatory Services Program, the Team Leader, Development Assessment plays a pivotal role in overseeing the delivery of high-quality, outcome-focused assessments for all Development Applications, including Planning and Building Rules Consent. This position provides specialist planning advice, exercises delegated authority across a wide range of legislative frameworks, and ensures Council’s statutory obligations are met. From shaping built form outcomes to advising the Council Assessment Panel and external stakeholders, the role directly contributes to strategic planning and policy development across the city.

By fostering strong internal relationships and mentoring your team, you'll help build confidence, capability, and cohesion. Externally, your ability to engage with stakeholders—ranging from developers and residents to State Government partners—will be key to delivering informed, balanced outcomes.

**About You**

To be successful in this role you will have:

- Comprehensive knowledge of the Planning, Development & Infrastructure Act and Regulations, Local Government Act 1999, National Construction Code and relevant Australian Standards, and other legislation or willingness to acquire.
- Extensive knowledge and experience in Development Assessment.
- Proven ability to assess and analyse complex development matters and determine solutions in an effective, timely and practical way.
- Proven experience of managing staff in a legislative environment.
