**Who is the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator?**

The National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) commenced operations in 2013 as a national entity responsible for
regulating all vehicles in Australia over 4.5 tonnes gross vehicle mass. Located in Brisbane, the NHVR minimises the
compliance burden on the heavy vehicle transport industry, reduces duplication and inconsistencies across state and
territory borders, and ultimately for the heavy vehicle business with government in Australia.

Position Description | Principal Vehicle Monitoring Systems Officer

The Operations Division ensures the continued and improved effectiveness of operational processes and transactions for
customers and service users of the NHVR. The Division is accountable for operational safety and compliance functions
across the NHVR.

**Primary Objectives**

The Principal Vehicle Monitoring Systems Officer is responsible for managing the heavy vehicle regulatory systems
position is responsible for identifying business initiatives and future proofing provisions that align with state and national
road transport reforms while delivering efficiencies to NHVR.

**Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities**
- Manage the integration of NHVR systems into the NHVR's national systems architecture model and provide technical

ICT expertise for the national support of compliance methodologies and intelligence gathering.
- Manage the development, implementation, maintenance and analysis of business systems to support strategic

business operational initiatives.
- Represent NHVR at internal and external technical meetings and forums in harmonisation of disparate jurisdictional

systems, development of coherent operational and tactical policies and procedures with state authorities, national
bodies such as NHVR, NTC, TCA and Austroads, systems suppliers and third-party service providers.

- Collaborate with staff across all NHVR Divisions to ensure that heavy vehicle access and compliance initiatives and

programs are technically sound and integrated with both new and existing NHVR and/or NHVR systems and will
result in a net benefit to NHVR customers and stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain cooperative relationships with jurisdictional peers, key NHVR Divisions & Branches and

external service providers to ensure system implementations, enhancements, operation and maintenance achieve
business, customer and compliance objectives.
- Contribute to the management of complex and /or sensitive issues impacting on projects by evaluating and

- Adhere to all NHVR policies and procedures to ensure compliance with NHVR internal processes.
- Comply with WH&S policies and procedures and contribute and promote a safe and healthy work environment.

**Skills and Capabilities**

SQL querying with an advantage in tracking vehicles against geospatial, temporal and speed conditions.
- Demonstrated experience in the management of systems in a complex multi-system corporate environment.
