**About the role**

As the Principal Legal Officer (Workplace Law) you will be responsible for providing a range of legal services to our corporate areas across workplace law.

Your key responsibilities will include:

- Provide legal advice and support relating to employment contracts, employment and IR-related disputes and litigation, anti-discrimination matters, grievances, disciplinary matters, WHS matters, and legal issues related to workers’ compensation claims.
- Support the NHVR in its dealings with both internal and external parties through providing strategic advice on effective negotiation and communication processes, legal rights and obligations.
- Undertake and manage complex and sensitive negotiations and discussions with customers, contractors, government agencies and other relevant third parties.
- Provide specialist advice on complex regulatory and legal policy issues pertinent to the heavy vehicle transport system.
- Attend negotiations, hearings, arbitration, and appeals, when required.
- Write and/or review complex reports, briefing notes, submissions and prepare and deliver presentations.
